“On” or “in” a blog?

My impulse is to use “on my blog,” as opposed to “in my blog,” but I got to wondering why that is. I suspect it has something to do with the screen aspect. We say “It’s on TV,” for some reason, but say it’s “in a” book, magazine, newsletter, article, letter, movie and so on. Of course, a movie is often seen on a screen, albeit a different type. Thoughts?
